"My relationship with nature has always been intense. I have always been inspired by plants and trees and the cyclic processes of birth and germination, growth, bloom and finally, death and decay. I am interested in light and color above all else in my painting, which has been deepened through years of direct experience with the natural world. While painting, I am always looking for that moment of perfect meeting, or understanding, in the natural world - that moment which is timeless. This moment can generate new possibilities for relationships in both painter and spectator.

Filip Desmet is an established artist who exhibits widely in Belgium. He also teaches art at the local Waldorf High School. Filip's work is found in private collections in Europe.
